Akron, Canton, & Youngstown ICC caboose HO scale kit AC&Y-1
Built by International Car Company in 1947 at Kentron Ohio to AC&Y's proprietary design and numbered 60-65 these six Cabooses were the AC&Y's "signature" cars. These six ICC cabooses were unique in that they rode on timkin sealed rolloer bearing swing motion double elliptical leaf spring caboose trucks. this was due to the AC&Y's close relationship with Timkin, Two of them were rebuilt to serve on the Chesapeake Western as their numbers 8 and 9 after Norfolk and Western took control of the AC&Y. It is to my understanding that none of these were repainted and wore any Norfolk & Western paint scheme.
Two of these unique cabooses survive. One that was restored by the AC&Y Historical society and placed on display at Copley Township Park adjecent to the Preserved Copley Depot.
The other was Chesapeake Western No.8 and was located in a park in North Carolina until purchased and moved to a business in Winston-Salem NC. Allthough she still survives, her condition is in dismay.
Her fate is still unknown
